Choosing and costing Choosing and costing

How a migration to Business Central runs.

Migration is a data-quality exercise with a deadline. It is also the best moment to decide what personal data you should stop carrying.

← UK and Europe hub

What moves

The data that makes the new system work on day one.

Chart of accounts and dimensions, redesigned where the old one was a workaround
Customers, vendors, items and bank accounts
Open items: receivables, payables and open orders
Opening balances by period, and the history you decide to carry

Personal data in migration

Migration is a chance to apply data minimisation.

Leave out contacts and attributes that have no purpose or lawful basis
Mask or synthesise data in test environments
Agree who can see migration files and where they are stored
Delete working copies after sign-off

How it runs

Each rehearsal is reconciled to the source before the next one begins.

Extract, clean and load in a rehearsal environment
Reconcile balances and open items to the source
A second rehearsal and a user acceptance test
A planned cut-over, with a rollback decision point
Hypercare after go-live

How an engagement runs

It starts with a 45-minute consultation, then a discovery and fit-gap workshop on your own processes. You receive a written fit-gap and a phased plan before a programme is agreed. Four phases follow, each with something you can use and review.

01

Discover

Process workshops, data audit, and a fit-gap against the standard product.

02

Design

Solution blueprint, integration map, and the extensions we will actually need.

03

Deploy

Configuration, migration rehearsal, role-based training, UAT and phased cutover.

04

Support

Hypercare, managed services, client portal, scheduled optimisation reviews.

What drives the cost: users, legal entities and currencies, integrations, data migration and the gaps found against standard. See how pricing works or run the three-minute readiness score.

Frequently asked questions

Which systems can you migrate from?

Sage, Xero, spreadsheets and legacy ERP systems, among others. We assess the source in discovery.

How much history should we bring?

As little as meets reporting, audit and retention duties. Opening balances plus open items and master data is common, with the old system kept read-only.

Statutory rates, filing rules, mandate dates and data-protection requirements are set by the relevant authorities and change; we confirm the current position with you and your advisers before configuration. General information, not tax, legal or data-protection advice, and not a statement that any product or service is certified or approved by a regulator.
